Love Island USA star Isaiah Harmison has opened up about being dumped from the villa, admitting he feels like some of the contestants hadn’t been completely honest with him during his time in Hawaii.
The personal trainer found his motives questioned by fellow islanders and viewers alike after he was accused of repeating the same lines to several girls in the villa.
However, the 25-year-old has revealed that he had been the one given the wrong impression during some of his chats with the likes of Aimee Flores.
After making notable connections with both Aimee and Cashay Proudfoot, the Texan was under pressure to try and figure out which one had the most potential going forward.
In the end, neither connection led to anything lasting and, since getting the boot from the villa, Isaiah has discovered the ways in which he had been led on by the ladies.
Speaking to Metro.co.uk about a conversation Aimee had with Olivia Kaiser, Isaiah revealed his shock at the fact she had failed to be honest with him about her feelings.
‘I’ve watched a few episodes and I think Aimee definitely lied to me in a certain sense. When I expressed only having interest for her after myself and Cash fizzled out, Aimee said to me she was still interested in me and still had feelings for me,’ he began. ‘What I saw on the show is that she actually went to Olivia right away and said she wasn’t into me anymore.’
He continued: ‘I don’t like that, I kind of wished she told me that because I didn’t really care that much. I just wanted her to be happy. I told her in the chat that if you’re happy with Wes, you should pick Wes.
‘I wasn’t overly controlling or freaking out about being eliminated so I just would have liked more honesty and directness like anyone else did. That’s the only thing I kind of was upset about when watching it back.’
The reality star explained he never expected the ladies to ‘have all their eggs in my basket’ because he knew they were both still interested in Jeremy and Cinco in the villa.
Despite the fact he ended up getting a slightly negative rep in the villa, he stated he wouldn’t change anything about his experience.
He told us: ‘I don’t regret anything that I did or said. But I do wish that things would have panned out differently or that maybe I took different approaches.
‘But my intentions were always good and I pushed myself outside my comfort zone, which is one of my main goals. And I learned a lot from it.’
Thankfully, fans of the show haven’t been too harsh since the former islander left the CBS show.
He stated: ‘It’s been an adjustment since I got out. I didn’t realize how passionate people were about Love Island. People have been very, very passionate. But I have a lot of positive DMs and comments and it feels like everyone’s been very supportive and loving towards me so that’s been nice.
‘I haven’t personally seen a lot of mean DMs or comments, which is a good thing. There’s stuff on the Love Island page and Twitter because there have been some misconceptions when it came to like me my intentions or how I was like handling things. Hopefully, people can start to see the real me.’
Love Island USA streams live on CBS, on-demand on the CBS app, and Paramount+ from Tuesdays through Fridays and on Sundays.
