Shakira’s The One Show appearance utter chaos as awkward technical difficulties means she almost doesn’t show up

Tech issues hit Shakira's appearance on The One Show

Hips Don’t Lie hitmaker Shakira suffered a variety of awkward technical difficulties on the BBC The One Show Friday evening that saw her only appear on the show for 30 seconds.

She was meant to appear on the show alongside producer Mark Ronson to chat with hosts Ronan Keating and Alex Jones about her new song Don’t Wait Up.

Alex was talking about the upcoming Olympic games during the first segment of the show and then asked for the stars’ thoughts before they realised Shakira’s screen was frozen.

‘Mark, racewalking, would that be for you?’ she asked.

‘I’ve heard of it, your feet aren’t allowed to fully leave the ground – that’s the rules I believe,’ he responded.

‘I think that is right up my street, that’s my speed.’

Ronan then directed a question at Shakira, as he queried: ‘Shakira, what would your Olympic sport be?”

Sadly Shakira was frozen and wasn’t able to respond, which meant the hosts were forced to cut away and talk to the other guests.

The technical difficulties were fixed by the end of the show, but unfortunately, it was too late.

Shakira had less than a minute to speak due to speak about her new track.

‘I feel extremely excited, I’ve been working in the studio non-stop. I feel like a horse that is running wild after so long after being in a stable for so long,’ she said.

‘Now that it’s actually safer to be in a room and a recording studio with other collaborators, everything I’ve got inside is pouring out in the shape of songs.’

Before she could continue, Alex had to awkwardly cut her off so that they could end the programme.

‘Shakira sorry, we’ll have to stop you there, it’s great to see you,’ she said.

‘That was a race to the finish, wasn’t it?’

Ronan also apologised to the star at the end of the episode.

The One Show airs weekdays at 7pm on the BBC.
