Actress Madeleine Mantock has announced her decision to leave the Charmed reboot series.

The British star confirmed her exit in a statement as the 31-year-old revealed she would not be returning as eldest sister Macy Vaughn.

In a statement to TVLine reports, she opened up about making the ‘difficult decision’ to leave.

Madeleine explained: ‘Playing Macy on Charmed for the last three seasons has been an immense privilege and I have so enjoyed working with our fantastic producers, creatives, cast and crew.

‘I’m incredibly grateful to The CW and CBS Studios for my time on the show and for being a brilliant support in my difficult decision to leave.’

She added: ‘Huge thanks to our fans who can look forward to, what I know will be, a spectacular fourth season.’

The news came with just one episode left to air from the third season, meaning the July 23 episode will be the actress’s final appearance as a series regular.

Showrunners Liz Kruger and Craig Shapiro also commented on the actress’ departure in a joint statement.

It read: ‘We can’t thank Madeleine enough for her incredible and inspiring work on Charmed. We will miss her as much as the fans will, but we also respect her decision to move on.

‘This is a difficult time in the world, and everyone has to follow their heart. We wish her well, and the door is always open for a return visit from Macy… one way or another!’

The latest series of the Charmed reboots follows sisters Mel, Maggie and Macy, who have all got magical abilities as ‘charmed ones’.

They are guided on how to use their powers by their Whitelighter Harry, as they protect innocent lives.  Unlike the original series, the show explores themes of identity and sexuality, with a more diverse cast as well.

Charmed airs on CW in the US.
