Former Love Island winner Amber Gill has hinted at 2021 contestant Brad McClelland’s history with a friend… and we are absolutely living for the drama.
Tonight, the ITV2 programme has finally returned after what has felt like an eternity, with the first five girls and guys, including Shannon Singh and Hugo Hammond, greeting Laura Whitmore in the villa and coupling up.
Brad sparked the biggest reaction from the ladies, with three stepping forward for him during the coupling ceremony – despite two of them already being in pairs.
He decided to couple up with Faye Winter, one of the three who showed him interest – and in the outside world, Amber revealed her personal connection to the islander.
In a now-deleted tweet, Amber, who won Love Island in 2019 with Greg O’Shea, said that at some point before he joined the reality dating show, Brad was chatting to a friend of hers.
‘Brad was speaking to one of my friends at some point. But let’s keep that between me you,’ she wrote. ‘Love u bye.’
In a tweet in response to another Twitter user, Amber added that it was ‘a little while ago’, adding: ‘I’m not rating anyone out I just thought it was a fun fact.’
The reality star quickly decided to delete her initial post about Brad, writing in a follow-up tweet: ‘I forgot myself for a second there. Lemme just get rid of that.’
After the first coupling ceremony, the first 10 islanders were all coupled up, with Laura then leaving them to explore their new home in Majorca.
However, at that point, they were completely unaware that another female islander, Chloe Burrows, will be making her entrance very soon, undoubtedly to stir up some drama.
Ahead of the new series, Jake Cornish – who coupled up with Liberty Poole – revealed that he applied for the show after experiencing a ‘heartbreaking’ break-up during lockdown.
‘We just fell out of love, to be honest. We were together for so long. But there is no bitterness, none of that,’ he told The Mirror of his ex.
‘I would be lying if I said I wasn’t heartbroken when we broke up, but everything happens for a reason at the end of the day.’
Hopefully he’ll be able to find love in the villa!
Love Island returns tomorrow at 9pm on ITV2 and is available to watch on ITV Hub.
