Bindi Irwin’s daughter has had a bird sanctuary at Australia Zoo named in her honour.
The 22-year-old and her husband Chandler Powell welcomed their first child, Grace Warrior, back in March, and it seems she has already made a huge impact on the family-run business in such a short amount of time.
The sanctuary, called Grace’s Bird Garden, has now opened its doors at the zoo, and will showcase many different types of birds.
Australia Zoo took to Instagram to confirm the news, sharing a snap of Bindi alongside mum Terri Irwin, brother Robert Irwin, Chandler and baby Grace as they all huddled outside of the new sign for the bird garden.
The caption for the post included words from Terri, which read: ‘Grace’s Bird Garden is officially open at #australiazoo. This is such a beautiful, tranquil walk-through bird habitat, you are guaranteed to feel the zen. Grace certainly is!
‘With nearly 180 birds to share your day, you’ll experience different birds every time you visit!’
Bindi had previously confirmed that she gave birth to Grace on her and Chandler’s first wedding anniversary on March 25.
The couple honoured Bindi’s late father Steve Irwin with the middle names Warrior Irwin, with the conservationist revealing the names were a tribute to her dad’s life as a ‘wildlife warrior’.
She shared a sweet picture of her and her partner cradling their daughter, as well as a photo of a card next to a babygro, which revealed Grace was born at 5:52pm on March 25 and weighted 7lbs 7oz.
‘March 25, 2021. Celebrating the two loves of my life. Happy first wedding anniversary to my sweetheart husband and day of birth to your beautiful daughter. Grace Warrior Irwin Powell,’ Bindi wrote.
‘Our graceful warrior is the most beautiful light. Grace is named after my great-grandmother, and relatives in Chandler’s family dating back to the 1700s. Her middle names, Warrior Irwin, are a tribute to my dad and his legacy as the most incredible Wildlife Warrior. Her last name is Powell and she already has such a kind soul just like her dad.
‘There are no words to describe the infinite amount of love in our hearts for our sweet baby girl. She chose the perfect day to be born and we feel tremendously blessed.’
Following her birth, Bindi and Chandler have shared plenty of adorable snaps of the tot online.
However, Bindi has since announced she will be taking a social media break to focus on her family and mental health.
