Love Island fans were left in a panic after the ITV hub experienced technical difficulties on Monday evening.

Football fans hoping to tune in to France vs Switzerland were left frustrated after the app stopped working shortly after 8pm.

ITV confirmed that the service is experiencing difficulties, with the ITV Hub account posting on Twitter: ‘We are currently experiencing technical difficulties and working on getting services back as soon as possible.’

It left Love Island fans very worried ahead of the show’s 2021 series launch this evening, with a surge in demand expected when the programme returns on ITV2 at 9pm.

‘ITV Hub better fix up by the time Love Island starts,’ one fan said after experiencing technical issues.

‘They better fix the itv hub app before love island starts no way am I watching it in front of my family,’ another added.

Another disgruntled viewer wrote: ‘Just remembered the impact ITV hub is going to have on love island and felt a deep, ancient pain.’

Hopefully, the service will return to normal in time for the islanders to enter the villa this evening.

Metro.co.uk has reached out to ITV for comment.

All eyes are on Love Island tonight, with the islanders heading into the Spanish villa for the first time since the 2020 summer season was cancelled due to the pandemic.

The upcoming season will make history with Hugo Hammond becoming the first-ever disabled contestant to appear on the dating show after bosses said the programme will feature its most diverse line-up yet.

The new islanders are finally in the villa and new clip has been revealed, giving fans a taste of what to expect from the launch episode this evening.

Sharon Gaffka, Liberty Poole, Shannon Singh, Kaz Kamwi, Chloe Burrows and Faye Winter all make themselves at home in the footage, joined by presenter Laura Whitmore.

Love Island airs tonight at 9pm on ITV2.
