The Handmaid’s Tale has returned to make the hairs on the backs of our necks stand on end in the next instalment in the chilling saga based on Margaret Atwood’s novel of the same name.
It follows Elizabeth Moss’ character June Osborne as she fights for survival in a world where women are forced to repopulate the world through sexual servitude to men and their wives.
Fans of the series have had a long, two-year wait for the new season, with the season three finale airing in 2019.
At the end of season three, June carried out a successful operation with the help of fellow Handmaids and Marthas to smuggle a large group of children out of Gilead on a plane into Canada.
However, June decided to stay behind to try and free her eldest daughter, Hannah.
In the official synopsis for the new season, it is teased that June will face ‘unexpected and dangerous new challenges’, which threaten to ‘destroy her most cherished relationships’.
American viewers have already been able to watch the show in Hulu while those in the UK have had a bit of a longer wait, with season four launching on Channel 4 on June 20.
