The first load of Love Island 2021 cast members are set to make their debut in the villa as the long-awaited series kicks off on ITV2
The identities of 11 singletons were confirmed on Monday June 21 – one week before the series’ start date – in a series of announcements made throughout the day, with Sharon Gaffka, from Oxford kicking things off.
The season will also make history with Hugo Hammond becoming the first-ever disabled contestant to appear on the dating show after bosses said the programme will feature its most diverse line-up yet.
But who will be entering the notorious Majorcan villa? Meet the first batch of islanders right here.
Sharon Gaffka
Age: 25
Job: Civil Servant
Location: Oxford
Explaining what she looks for in a fella, Sharon says: ‘I tend to date someone who is taller than me, even though my last long-term partner, he was actually someone who was shorter than me.’
Aaron Francis
Age: 24
Job: Luxury events host
Location: London
Revealing what his type on paper is, Aaron shares: ‘I need someone that is passionate about what they are doing – from scientist to anything – you can tell when someone is speaking about something and they are actually smiling while they are talking. I love that.’
Liberty Poole
Age: 21
Job: Student and waitress
Location: Birmingham
Liberty is looking for a tall, confident, alpha male, but might be persuaded by a ‘nicer guy that is going to treat me right’.
Hugo Hammond
Age: 24
Job: P.E teacher
Location: Hampshire
Hugo signed up to Love Island to put himself back out there.
‘I’ve been single for a while now,’ he shares. ‘With the current climate, it’s been really hard to get back into dating.’
Shannon Singh
Age: 22
Job: Model
Location: Fife
Shannon is hoping to find an ‘exciting hunk with personality’.
I’m not just going to go with anyone because they’re convenient,’ she warns.
‘I need to make sure they’re for me. Looks – obviously, they’ve got to be handsome, but if he’s a handsome hunk but it’s like talking to a brick wall and I’d rather watch paint dry, it’s not going to be great.’
Jake Cornish
Age: 24
Job: Water engineer
Location: West country
Jake is recently single after splitting from his girlfriend over lockdown.
‘Looks wise, always gone for blondes,’ he says, explaining who he’s looking for.
‘But for me, the main thing is having respect and having good fun, and someone who will be loyal to you. I’ve had messages from girls that have got boyfriends and husbands.

Kaz Kamwi
Age: 26
Job: Fashion blogger
Location: Essex
Kaz is hoping to come out of the villa in a relationship. ‘Why not be in a place where people are looking for the same things as me?’ she says.
‘I’m fun, dramatic, spontaneous. Friendly as well. Light-hearted. Life is a party – I’m not the mum in the group, my friends are not looking at me to look after them!’
Brad McClelland
Age: 26
Job: Labourer
Location: Northumberland
Brad’s got a crush on former Love Island contestant Zara McDermott and decided to take part in the new series because he wants to date IRL.
‘Who wouldn’t want to be in a nice villa in a hot country for a while?’ he asks.
Chloe Burrows
Age: 25
Job: Marketing executive
Location: Bicester
Chloe is on the hunt for a man who is just as loud as she is.
‘Because I am quite a big character and quite loud, they would have to be as loud, if not more,’ she says. ‘I could never be with someone who is quiet.’
Toby Aromolaran
Age: 22
Job: Semi-professional footballer
Location: Essex
‘If Love Island can’t find me a relationship then no one can,’ Toby says.
The sportsman has played football since he was just six and is hoping his optimistic nature will help him secure a partner.
‘I always see the bright side in the worst situations,’ he enthuses. ‘I’m a fun guy when I go on a night out. Responsible guy as well.’
Faye Winter
Age: 26
Job: Lettings manager
Location: Devon
Faye is keeping her fingers crossed she’ll meet someone she’ll be able to go on holidays with.
‘I’m open to anything,’ she says. ‘The opportunity came up so why wouldn’t I? I’d love to meet somebody, what better way to meet somebody than in the sun – amazing.’
Love Island launches Monday 28 June at 9pm on ITV2.
