NCIS season 19 is going to feature some new faces as Gary Cole and Katrina Law join the cast.

The CBS crime drama’s newest additions were announced just after it was revealed that beloved star Mark Harmon will be scaling down his role as Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs.

According to TVLine, the veteran actor will be appearing in a handful of episodes.

However, Cole’s character is meant to help fill the void during Harmon’s reduced on-screen presense.

The new character, FBI Special Agent Alden Park, will not go as far as replacing Gibbs but not much else has been revealed about the role so far.

Elsewhere, Law’s character, Special Agent Jessica Knight, was first introduced in the last two episodes of season 18.

The actress has now been promoted from a recurring guest star to a series regular so viewers will now get to learn more about the formidable REACT (Regional Enforcement Action Capabilities Training Team) agent.

The character specializes in hostage negotiations and ‘handles daily high-risk operations with skill and precision.’

The ‘fiercely tenacious’ character is also descrived as ‘sharp, athletic and tough’ and also boats ‘a wry sense of humor’.

‘We haven’t shot a single frame quite yet, but with the addition of Gary Cole and Katrina Law to the cast, this is already shaping up to be one of the best seasons yet,’ NCIS executive producer/showrunner Steven D. Binder told Deadline.

‘Going into season 19, we are excited to have new characters and stories to tell that adds to and reenergizes the world we’ve come to love over the 400+ episodes.’

Meanwhile, returning cast members for the upcoming season include Harmon, Sean Murray, Wilmer Valderrama, Brian Dietzen, Diona Reasonover, Rocky Carroll, and David McCallum.

NCIS airs on CBS in the US, and on FOX UK in the UK.
